Requirement

Have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen,Permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway
Must be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia. (65 to 67 years of age)
Meet the balance-of-family test:
- At least half of your children and step-children are eligible children, or
- There are more eligible children living in Australia than in any other single country.
- This condition can be waived if you hold a subclass 884 visa.
Have an Assurance of Support, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway
Not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa

How to Apply for an Australian visa?

Step 1: Gather your documents (identity, relationship evidences, etc) – certified copies version
Step 2: Complete the Visa Application Form in paper:
- Sponsorship Form (Form 40) for sponsor
- Application Form for Parent Visa (Form 47PA)
Step 3: Pay the Visa first instalment
Step 4: Send your application by post or courier to the Parent Visa Processing Centre inPerth at the address on the form. Include all required documents, forms and evidence of payment of application charge with your application.
Step 5: Complete the Health examination and biometrics
Step 6: Waiting for a place to become available
Step 7: Pay the Visa second instalment

Can I Stay in Australia while my application is processing?

Yes, you can live in Australia with your child for the duration it takes your application to process. Once you submit your application, you will receive a Bridging Visa, which allows you to remain in the country until you get your visa 864.
